Welcome to our HaliPad Picks, where we select some of our favourite new listings in Halifax each week. We've selected a nice range of properties this week that would suit the first time home buyer or young professional to something fit for a larger family. A contemporary condo to a sprawling executive home on Oakland Road. You'll be able to learn more about each listing by clicking on the address or scrolling to the bottom of the page.
Note: If a listing we mention can no longer be seen at the links below, it means it has sold. All selections are made in our professional opinion and should not be construed as fact.
104-5221 Cornwallis Street (sold)
Conveniently located just off Barrington Street, a short drive downtown or a quick access off the Peninsula. This one bedroom condo is perfect for the first time home buyer or young professional, with contemporary finishing and a bright open concept. On site amenities include in suite laundry, a gym, outside grassy common area and an option to rent a guest suite for $75 per night. Reasonable condo fees and two underground parking spots - a rare find!
Pros: Two underground parking stalls, reasonable condo fees.
Cons: Road noise.
5551 Sentinel Square (sold)
It's amazing what a little bit (or a lot) of imagination can do to transform a home. A lot of these town homes show their age with a dark and dated interior. This one however, is the complete opposite. Renovated with modern class and flair, you certainly would not want to judge this book by its cover. Sliding barn doors, upgraded light fixtures and tasteful accents make this a wonderful place to be.
Pros: Completely renovated.
Cons: You are the castle on the block. Sometimes having the nicest home can limit your value.
7097 Mumford Road (sold)
If the previous two homes were too small for your family, this one offers the next step up. Tastefully renovated with show piece kitchen and baths, you'd simply move in and unpack. Pot lighting, neutral paint and lots of natural light plus a back yard with lots of trees and shrubs to offer great privacy to enjoy the summer months.
Pros: Move in ready, tastefully finished, private yard.
Cons: Some may not enjoy the corner lot.
5292 South Street (sold)
In pictures this home looks like a complete show stopper. I'll admit that once you see it in person, it has a few quirks you expect with an older home. A few awkward slopes make you feel like you've had a glass of wine too many and the sink in the corner of the bedroom might not be for everyone. However, the renovations that have been completed are great, especially the large kitchen. A great location in walking distance to everything and off street parking.
Pros: Airbnb potential, location.
Cons: A few odd features, noticeably sloping floors.
6105 Oakland Road (sold)
The sought after Oakland Road where some homes fetch upwards of $2 million. This sprawling family home offers tons of space on a reasonably sized lot. Numerous renovations mean there is very little left to do once you move in. Enjoy the many living spaces, inside and out, sitting around a cozy fireplace or outside on a lovely deck. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms make this ideal for a larger family. A really excellent find and our HaliPad Pick of the week.
Pros: Location, renovations, space.
Cons: I'm struggling to think of any!
